Pre-Owned Inventory at Harry Brown's GM
Are you tired of holding that old car together and spending enough money on repairs that you could make a decent payment on a newer model? If you want another car but it’s not in the budget to buy a new model, maybe getting behind the wheel of a pre-owned vehicle is the answer. If you live around Northfield or Owatonna, Harry Brown’s GM has a wide selection of used vehicles to choose from. If you need a newer vehicle, look at our used vehicle inventory and find a vehicle that will work for you.
Benefits of Buying Pre-Owned
Buying a used vehicle is costly, and many people can’t justify buying a new vehicle because costs are higher, loan terms are longer, monthly payments are bigger, and so are insurance premiums and sales tax. When you buy a used vehicle there are many advantages, such as:
- Lower sticker price – new vehicles have a higher sticker price, plus if you want to find a new vehicle with the options and packages you want, you can count on adding hundreds or even thousands of dollars to an already high sticker price even for your most basic model while purchasing a used vehicle means all these costs are lower. When you find a pre-owned vehicle that has the option and trim that you like, you don’t have to worry about paying more for the bells and whistles because those options will have already been figured into the sticker price.
- Other higher costs – Because of the higher cost for a new vehicle, there are other higher costs that are associated with that price, like higher monthly payments, higher sales taxes, and higher insurance premiums.
- Slower value depreciation – When you drive a new car off the lot, its value drops quickly. In fact, within the first month of ownership, you can expect the value to drop by as much as 10-15%. That means if you financed a vehicle for $30,000 as an example, its value will be $3,000 -$3,500 less ($26,500 - $27,000). Within the first year of ownership, you can expect the value to be 30-35% less ($20,500-$21,000). Used vehicles depreciate much more slowly.
Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles
If you are concerned about the reliability of a used vehicle, you can explore our inventory of Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle options that can put your mind at ease. To be a CPO, GM (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC) requires that a used vehicle meets specific criteria:

- Less than 75,000 miles on the odometer.
- Must pass a 172-point inspection.
- Must have a clean title and vehicle history report.
CPO Warranty Coverage
- Powertrain Limited Warranty of six years/100,000 miles.
- Bumper-to-bumper Limited Warranty of 12 months/12,000 miles.
- Other benefits like roadside assistance, courtesy transportation, or scheduled maintenance programs may be offered as well.
